Harry Potter post part deux.
I think the words are mostly Laura's. The kid with bunny ears at the end is a very obscure fanfic reference.
I sat in front of paused Harry Potter DVDs to sketch out the werewolf, Dementor and basilisk. The unicorn's based on a horse by Velazquez, though.
When JK Rowling's 'Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince' came out, I was working at the flagship store of (British bookseller) Waterstone's. My colleague Laura, who now works in publishing, very enthusiastically organised entertainment for the long queue of Harry fans who waited from the afternoon onwards, and kept them all entertained with her banter while I stood next to her in Gryffindor costume, feeling awkward. I'm not a natural banterer. I did make all these HP-themed activity sheets though, and none of the fans believed I'd done them, they thought they'd come from Head Office. Which I think is a compliment.
Look, this is a picture of us at midnight which appeared in the international press!
In the past, I variously edited out the names of Laura and the bookshop, in some attempt at discretion, but now I don't work there any more I don't mind naming the employer, and I think Laura would like her efforts to be duly credited.
I was especially pleased with this Charms OWL paper. It's a based on the real AQA GCSE paper format, and all the blurb at the top (Remembralls and Self-Correcting Ink is forbidden...) is paraphrased from the fifth Harry Potter book.
I came up with a logo for the wizarding exam authority, although in retrospect I should've called it.. um.. the Wizarding Examination Authority for Schools Education and Learning (WEASEL), or something like that. JK loves her animal acronyms, so it would've been more in keeping. Ah well.
